Do you notice anything different. . .

 about my blog?

Hint:

Hint:

Check out the "About Me" section. I'm very excited! And it has nothing to do with the caffeine and chocolate. (Although those are good too.)

There are all kinds of changes here today. Also to the right, you may have noticed The Beautiful Blogger Award. Many thanks to Fiona Phillips from Fi's Magical Writing Haven for awarding it to me! By way of following the rules, I'm including 7 random things about myself. I'm talking obsessions this week (although this has nothing to do with the rules of the award.)

1. I have been completely obsessed with this song:

2.  My television obsession has been The Voice. (I'm bummed that Tony Lucca didn't win.)

3.  My reading obsession has been Sonya Sones' books. I read two this week, one the week before and I've got another one on hold at the library.

4.  My writing obsession has been staying above the 25,000 word count. I've hit 25,000 words three times. Each time I get on a roll with new words, I end up deleting older sections and dropping below the count again.

5. My eating obsession is homemade blueberry-banana bread - soooo good.

6. My cleaning obsession has been trying to get our spare room ready for my 16-year-old nephew who is coming up from FL to stay with us.

7.  My mental obsession has been trying to convince myself that I'm not dreaming. I really am represented by Kendra Marcus of BookStop Literary. Pinch me.

I'd like to pass The Beautiful Blogger Award on to:

Have you been obsessed with anything this week?

    1. Thanks, Vijaya. Oh, I don't really get the whole RSS feed thing, so I didn't realize that my post wouldn't make sense to all. Thanks for pointing that out. I need to learn more about it.

  13. Thank you Ruth. I may not be able to respond to it for a while, as I have a lot on my plate, and will be leaving for a wedding and vacation at the end of May. I need to get away from my blog! LOL

  16. Ruth, congratulations on the representation! A well deserved accomplishment! And thank you for the Beautiful Blogger Award. My recent obsessions have included West Wing (missed the series when it was on--isn't Netflix a wonderful thing) and depiling my desk (obsessed with it or not, can't seem to make much headway). And, of course, I am obsessed with food in general!

    1. Depiling my desk is always on my to do list as well. I've never seen West Wing. I agree, Netflix is a wonderful thing ;)

  19. OH no! I haven't lost a comment in a long time. I learned the hard way and finally started copying the comment before hitting "Publish." But I tried to copy your name above and ended up on your web page! I didn't want to misspell your name. Let me try to rewrite my comment again!

Woo hoo, Ruth! I'm super excited for you signing on with an agent. Why are you sitting there reading these comments and not jumping for joy and doing a happy dance? Oh, you already did but got tired and needed a break. Okay, but now that you've rested, time for another happy dance! Haha! I'll join you!

Now here's where I lost my comment. Now that you have an agent, you need more name recognition. You need your name in your blog title. Your name is your brand. (I learned that from Kristen Lamb's blogging class, plus lots of other cool tips!) Your log line, "Out on a Limb" is great. So maybe you could put your name in front of it: Ruth Schiffmann: Out On a Limb. It has a pretty nice ring to it, doesn't it. You can still be the shy writer going social, but now everyone needs to know your name! I made the same mistake. Seems like most of us do. We're intimidated when we first start blogging. Kind of want to be anonymous but have to follow our passion and write, so we hide our name at first. Now you're on your way and we're all going to follow Ruth Schiffmann's journey. We want to fall in luv with your words, but everyone needs to know your name and remember it so they can buy your books when they see your name on them! Cheers to many successful years as an author!

P.S. Sorry if I sound pushy. Just trying to help. I've visited so many blogs and I can't find the blogger's name! Yours is there, but I had to hunt for it!

    1. Wow! Thank you so much, Lynn for the advice. And for taking the time to retype it all after you lost it the first time. I know how annoying that is! Sounds like the blogging class taught you a lot. I really appreciate you sharing these tips with me. Okay, I went ahead and tried to make my name easier to find on the blog. Will have to figure out the whole changing the blog title issue. Again, Lynn, thanks so much for sharing in my excitement =D

I did go out and celebrate this weekend. A good writer friend and I walked to town, had a lovely lunch, walked back to my house and spent a few hours sitting on the farmer's porch writing. It was a grand day.
