Okay, I haven't finished this one yet, so I guess the rating is premature. I'm 75 % into it, but as I look at my schedule for the next few days, all I can think about is
finding time to read more of this book. I would possibly forego meals to continue reading this one. (My family may not be on board with that plan.)

I am nearly at the end of Picture Perfect by Jodi Picoult and still can't guess the ending - quite. It's a very absorbing read.
ReplyDeleteBooks that you'd forego meals for are special. :-) I've been known to "cook" (which really means absentmindedly stir something in a pot) while reading a book I can't put down.

ReplyDeleteI loved Waxing Moon by H. S. Kim, set in 19th century Korea. I also re-read Life of Pi, which I really like.
A run of 5 star books! Woo hoo! That's great! The last 5 star book I read was The Maze Runner. And just before that, Ender's Game. I haven't blogged for four months. You know how life stuff can throw things off? Hoping to get back to it this week. Daughter is here watching the grand babies for me while I get a little bit of work done. Have a great week, Ruth! ReplyDeleteI think I rated King's Cell five-star. That was the last book I read for pleasure - and it was a pleasure! I'm reading his The Dark Half now, but not liking it very much. He "tells" a lot and head-hops! But I guess if you're a super-star author, you can break rules and no one cares. Except I do 'coz those rules are really fundamental...
ReplyDeleteOh wow! These all look great, Ruth! I haven't been doing enough reading lately. The last book I read was a Jack Reacher novel which gets 5 stars just by virtue of being Jack Reacher :)
ReplyDeleteWe're on our 6th snow day this month so I've had much downtime to read! I've started Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell and it's as excellent as everyone has said it is! I've also had Matt de la Pena on my radar for awhile, but have yet to read anything of his.

I'm in the middle of a very thick non-fiction on the 14th Century. I need less snow days to finish that one. My kids have been home more this new year than at school. Those books look good. Thanks for the ideas.
ReplyDeleteI agree 100 percent. The cold is a great excuse to red for pleasure. Great shares. The State of Wonder really grabs my attention. I'v been reading Kathleen Fuller's Amish books -- always a great escape.

I've had a few five-star reads lately. I really loved This is How You Lose Her, by Junot Diaz, but my favourite was If Nobody Speaks Of Remarkable Things. Truly remarkable.
